Large Corinthian Capital
This Corinthian order is a Classical order of Greek and Roman architecture and is clearly seen in the Pantheon - Rome. This Corinthian order was said to have been invented by an architect from the 5th Century Callimachus - who was inspired by the sight of a basket that had been left on the grave of a youthful girl. Several of her toys were in it and a square tile had been positioned over the basket - to shield it from the weather - an acanthus plant had grown all the way through the woven basket - incorporation its spiny - intensely cut leaves in the midst of the weave of the basket. This aged marble capital would make an graceful garden feature and is similarly suited as a interior piece as a jardinière or table support (a pair make a marvellous dining table). Composition Available Aged Marble.
